Throughout his career, Ronald Land has been among the most distinguished and sought-after voice/opera coaches in the United States. His unique background in musical comedy as well as classical music has allowed him to enjoy focusing his attention on the diverse theatrical and musical aspects of shaping the modern opera singer. As a coach-accompanist he has worked in many American opera companies, including but not limited to Des Moines Metro Opera, International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, Utah Festival Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, The Pennsylvania Opera Theater, Augusta Opera, and the New Jersey Opera Theater.
Mr. Land has been involved with many teaching programs and masterclasses aimed at the development of the young artists. He has accompanied masterclasses given by Brigitte Fassbaender, Elly Ameling, Jerome Hines, Sherill Milnes, Diana Soviero, Elaine Bonazzi, Elaine Malbin, Mignon Dunn, Renata Scotto and pianists Geoffrey Parsons and Dalton Baldwin. He currently enjoys working with Martina Arroyo in both the summer “Prelude to Performance” program and the “American Singer’s Opera Project”; concentrating on character development and role preparation. Mr. Land has given many masterclasses himself including those for New Jersey Opera Theater, Marywood College, and the University of Montana – Missoula among others. For the summer 2008 season at Opera New Jersey, in addition to his duties as Musical Director of the Studio Artist cabaret, he provided coachings and aria classes for the studio artists.
Mr. Land has expanded his career in to the realm of artistic administration. He recently served as the Assistant General Director and principal coach of the Connecticut Grand Opera in Stamford, CT. He has also served in administrative capacities for New Jersey Opera Theater and, as casting consultant for Living Arts Productions touring company of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Mr. Land is often engaged as recital collaborator and audition accompanist – and is a published author on a variety of topics in opera and musical theater. He lives in NYC where he has maintained a private studio for the past 10 years.
In addition, he serves as the Music Director and Liturgist for Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Hicksville NY and is Founder/Director of the Holy Family Concert Series.
